The next stock market crash - how could it happen?
Brexit Update - Bojo and the Backstop
It’s often in hindsight that we look back and see the warning signs that preceded a calamity of some sort. The problem is, we dismiss or rationalize the red flags and subsequently fail to act to prevent the impending doom.
Sometimes it is easier to identify a bad outcome beforehand because it is relative to the situation and number of inputs.
Earnings could tip the scale
Recently elected Prime Minister of the UK, Boris Johnson, is making it clear the UK is leaving the European Union on October 31 with or without a deal.
If you are unfamiliar with what is going on here, in 2016, the UK held a vote about whether or not to stay in the European Union, a group of 28 countries working together economically and politically. Why would they want to do this?
Illinois to become 11th Recreational Cannabis legal state
The US stock market has been on shaky ground this year. A variety of economic numbers across the globe have shown slowing growth across geographic regions. And yet markets are still near all-time highs….Why? Bad news should be bad news, right? Good news is good news…right? Wrong. We are currently (and I emphasize “currently”) in a “bad news is good news” market dynamic.
FDA Change could potentially delay guidance on CBD rules - but not for long
Illinois budget problems are well known. Govenor J.B. Pritzker has been an advocate for marijuana legalization as a part of a solution to help the state’s finances. The governor had an aggressive agenda and was recently able to broker a bipartisan agreement on the budget and a massive new infrastructure plan which includes a provision to legalize recreational marijuana use in the state.
2019 Cannabis Outlook and Predictions
With Scott Gottlieb stepping down as FDA chief, uncertainty surrounds the fate of guidelines for the usage of CBD in food or beverages. In December, the Farm Bill legalized hemp and opened the door for the industry to explode. However, the FDA regulates the ingredients within products that are sold here in the U.S….

More Operations come online - Even though a state or country passes a marijuana legalization provision, the products are not available immediately for sale. Rules and regulations have to be passed to facilitate the sale within the state.
If you need a risky surgery, would you get a second opinion?
President #Trump signed the 2018 Farm Bill into law and one provision legalizes industrial #hemp as an agricultural commodity. Here is a look at some of the provisions and why it is game changer for the broader #cannabis market.
The most significant impact is that it removes industrial hemp from the Schedule 1 Controlled Substances List.
New York moving to Legalize Recreational Marijuana within Months
If your doctor was recommending a major surgery that could affect you for the rest of your life, would you get a second opinion?
You trust your doctor. He’s credentialed. (hopefully) You have known him for a long time. He treats your friends and family as well. BUT… you would still probably get a second opinion. Right?
Sometimes receiving another point of view can be helpful in solving a problem. In fact, an alternative viewpoint could illuminate solutions that you didn’t even know were available. And just because you get another outlook, it doesn’t mean you have to follow that plan.
What? You got an #Apple Watch with your new #insurance policy?
Governor Cuomo in New York is moving quickly forward to legalize recreational cannabis use. Cuomo had been an opponent of legalization, but his stance has softened in the last few years and changed completely after a recent study suggested “the benefits of taxing and regulating the drug outweighed any negative effects.” Various organizations and groups are already fighting for the revenue legalization will produce.
2018 Farm Bill Nearing Passage for CBD and Hemp Companies
A common complaint many people have about life insurance is that they will be dead when the benefit pays out. : ( Well, John Hancock’s new “Vitality” program is solving that problem.
My term life insurance policy was coming to an end, and I needed a new policy. My friend told me about the Vitality program because he had been doing it for about 8 months and loved it.
Big Tobacco enters the Cannabis Space

Midterms and the Market
The midterm election results were very positive for the growing legal cannabis industry. Here are the highlights:
Is marijuana usage more acceptable than national polls suggest?
The Democrats successfully retook the House last night in the U.S. Midterms. The question is, “What does that mean for your portfolio?”
With a divided Congress and polarization at extremes, the Trump/Republican legislative agenda will likely come to a screeching halt. The Democrats do not have enough control to really “undo” anything, but they can stand in the way of further moves by Trump.
A number of national studies, such as the recent Pew Research Center study, suggest that 62% of Americans support marijuana legalization. An informal poll makes me wonder if this number is actually higher.
I recently put up a billboard to advertise my cannabis investment strategy here in town.
